Pythagoreanism is a Perspective
Pythagoreanism illuminates certain good and bad aspects of our world that most people don’t notice.
Pythagoreanism is a part of the birth of Western Buddhism. Our society and our economy are evolving. Pythagoreanism is a part of this evolution.
This birth, unsurprisingly, is occurring online. Pythagoreans do not meditate to work better, we work to meditate better. Pythagoreans value freedom and diversity of thought. This means that all Pythagoreans have big problems with working long hours at jobs we don’t like, being forced to think about ideas that do not interest us. Pythagoreans use dramatic language to describe this, including “indentured servitude.”
I mean, it’s not indentured servitude, right? That’s too extreme a phrase, right?… We’re not forced to work! We’re here because we want to be here!
1.) If you find yourself working at a job that forces you to do things you don’t want to do, just so you can keep your job… or
2.) If you find yourself in deep, long term, unforgivable debt… or
3.) Living paycheck to paycheck…
Then: You may be the victim of a false choice, like the choice between Pepsi or Coke, like the choice between calling people you don’t want to call and asking for things at company A, or calling people you don’t want to call and asking for things at company B, or doing fancy data entry.
I’m not going to tell you that you can do it. I’m not going to tell you that you’re an all star, that you’re amazing, or that you can be anything you want to be. Trust me, the “Anything you want to be” line is the longest one, and it’s wrapping around the block. The government is still trying giving jobs back to the laid off. And guess what? Students are lower on the hiring priority list than old people! You need experience to get experience. I had a boss who was a 65 year old grandmother! She wanted to retire! I wanted her to retire!
We are dramatically overproducing every kind of education degree, and more than half of the students paying money for school should drop out. Unless they want to spend money (which is how I wish I had viewed it).
The conformity required for participation in the professional world constrains thought and perspective. As a result, few professionals will be able to discover the Pythagorean perspective without being expressly shown, step by step.
Society is on autopilot, at the whim of the “market,” which is as unpredictable as the weather.
Autopilot has steered our society to a place where good, hardworking, people are forced to live as indentured servants.
Almost everything we see on TV and online is fake. This is real.
We are told that monotheism is the only way to express our spirituality
And if you aren’t a monotheist, then you’re an atheist. Pythagoreanism is for those who wish to check the “None of the above” box.
Pythagoreanism is not…
a religion, though it obsoletes religion. Pythagoreanism is not an idea, though it helps people create better ideas faster. Pythagoreanism is not trying to sell you anything.
Pythagoreanism is a perspective. This perspective will make you happy. It will free you.
Good to see you associate Pythagoreanism with Buddhism. Here is an article which provides the early history:
